I've moved

I've moved to Switzerland for about 5 months and you can find me here if you want to see what I'm up to.

You know the Hebrew testament is really quite fascinating.  There's a bunch of crap in there that's just wrong, but the history is just fascinating.  It's interesting to see how the social-political problems manifest themselves in the texts.  Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could take the time to really study and understand what they claim to believe...that'd be nice.

**explaination**

"bunch of crap that's just wrong" - there are things in the Bible that I do not believe are divinely inspired.  Within the prophetic texts of Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, etc. the violence against women and children (even within the context of metaphor) are damaging and go against what the gospel teaches (gospel including experience which I see as of equal importance in the development of one's faith).  The fact that these text (the use of fact is intentional) are quoted to women by their husbands as they are beating the crap out of them is an abuse of the Christian message and God.  It is my belief that the Bible was written by humans and is therefore fallible, it is a guide and one important part of an equation on which Christian faith is built, not the sole authority...there has to be room for God to work and inspire what we read, otherwise we as humans claim to understand God...think of the implications of that.

Work in progress...

This weekend was wonderfully exhausting.  The ceremonial theology left some things to be desired, but it was beautiful and Megan and Larry were so happy.  It was good to see friends I hadn't seen in a while and catch up with them, but the entire weekend drained all the energy I had.  I just want to sink into my bed and hibernate.   Is it December yet?

I am loving my class and am looking forward to the rest of the week, but I got 10 hrs, of sleep last night and I'm still exhausted.  I'm in introverted shut down and don't want to be around people, so I'm going home right after class, locking my door and holing up to finish my paper that was due this morning, but just didn't get done last night.  Oh well at least my professor is understanding.
